Quote# 32916

I don't read books with graphic violence, rape or murder. I mean, other than the Bible! But that's Gods Holy Word, so who can argue with that? But aside from the Bible, I only read light-hearted Christian fiction and inspirational stories.

Doesn't have to be a poe. I've talked to people as dumb as this. It's frightening.

ROFLed. OK, so Poe, but I'm glad it was submitted, because I needed the laugh.

Just to be clear, as a newbie to this site, what does Poe mean? Referring to Edgar Allan Poe? or is it a short for something?

Poe's Law:

"Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is impossible to create a parody of Fundamentalism that SOMEONE won't mistake for the real thing."

In other words, saying "Poe" means you think the submitter of the quote has mistaken a parody for the real thing.

@ MiykaelPoly- "Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is impossible to create a parody of Fundamentalism that SOMEONE won't mistake for the real thing."

That's Poe's Law.

There's a burning inside of me that can only be quenched by the uttering of the phrase "Please, please be a poe"

So you get your fill of rape, murder, incest and graphic violence from the bible?

I will make sure to keep that dirty book away from children!

When someone replied with a "Poe" comment, she said this:

"No, it's just that when I tell people I don't read or watch anything too violent, they always shoot back with "well you read the bible, don't you?" thinking they;re so clever. That was just sort of a pre-response to someone who might make such a comment."

Poe? Maybe, but sometimes hard to tell.

If it isn't POE, can we nominate it for "Well at least she's honest" award?

I've also talked to people like that as well. They firmly believe that.

This is a surprisingly honest approach to Christian logic.
