Quote# 3211

Unfortunately, all areas of academic endeavor, including computer science (whatever that is, as defined in your orbit) are fallen and subject to evolutionary thought. I see virtually every department in my institution as reeking with evolutionary thought, including business, including computers, and especially religion.

Well cars have changed over the past 50 years, that's evolution. Computers have drastically changed as only single years pass, that's evolution. If that's not evolution, we'd still be using the telegraph, two part phones (seperate earpiece and mouthpiece) and using Model T cars. And let's not go into aircraft or esspecially weapons.

And aren't you glad that you're not typing this on a TRS80?

Now, why do you suppose that is? Could it be that ... oh, I don't know ... those areas of academic endeavor are dedicated to finding the truth and that what you call \"evolutionary thought\" has a track record of delivering the goods? No, that couldn't be it at all. It must be the EAC.

No, these things don't make use of evolution literally, only metaphorically -- but it does make a darned useful metaphor.

Whenever I want to be condescending about something, I should follow it in parentheses with, "Whatever that is, as defined in your orbit." That just sounds so incredibly douchey it's great.

What is "evolutionary thought"? The insistence to trust observable reality over myths and legends, perhaps?

@Swede, literally it is "thought that changes over time", so I suppose what CamelToe here is arguing for is "thought that never changes in the slightest".

This must be why most fundies still have the intellect of a five year-old.

If you've gotten to a point where you think technological and educational advances are the same as biological changes: You are a dumb deluded Fundie

If you think your religion or anyone else hasn't been adapting, retooling or taking advantage of changing mindsets: You are an uneducated, historically challenged, dumb, deluded Fundie.
