Quote# 31132

A) Wrong according to the Christian majority that allows you to live in its country, and

B) Invasion of privacy is acceptable for a parent who thinks his or her child is doing something wrong, and needs to be corrected for his or her own benefit. It's the same deal with the government - you don't have the right to privacy at all, so I would advise you not to bite the hand that feeds you.

I do have a right to privacy, and the government doesn't feed me. I feed myself. Fuck off.

...allows you to live in this country.

What a pathetic statement (both the OP and the ideology it represents).

What does wiretapping have to do with Christianity? And who says the "Christian majority" condones it?

It's the same deal with the government - you don't have the right to privacy at all

Ah. So he agrees that guns ought to be registered?

Of course, it would happen until the victim of that privacy breaking and the minority is you. Remember witchhunt?

Actually it is very bad for a parent to invade their child's privacy. Children need to have boundries and if you cross them you will be doing more harm than good in the long run. What a parent needs to do is talk to the child and explain that you need to do certain things like come into their room and in that example the two of you need to come up with an agreed time for when this acceptable to them (thus granting them some control over their belongings). As they mature they will demand more and more privacy and a good parent who realizes that they can indeed trust this child needs to be able to back off.

A. Freedom of and FROM religion. No christian "majority" allows me to live in my country - I'm a citizen. Stop making stupid comments.

Everyone's entitled to privacy. Read the law sometime instead of making ignorant statements.

The governement doesn't feed me. In fact it takes a good percentage of the money I work hard to earn

The "allowed to live here" is hilarious. And yes, we have a right of privacy. Jason doesn't have the foggiest notion of the principles upon which our government was founded.

It is true that the "right to privacy" appears nowhere in the constitution. Last I checked at least.

Jason, if you wish to surrender your privacy to to State then by all means be my guest. I on the other hand do not nor will I ever submit to living under the microscope of the government for any reason. I suspect that you are ignorant enough to surrender your civil liberties as well. After all you've got nothing to hide right?

Jason would have done very well in Nazi Germany with those beliefs(our American founding fathers would probably puke at such invasions of American citizens privacy).

You trust the US government as it is NOW to safeguard the privacy of its citizens.

What about an administration or two down the line?

Should the Democrats take the oval office in 2008, I'm going to be sure and remind you of this comment the first time you decide to go on an extended rant against something Hillary/Obama/Mystery Prez does.

Fundies don't care about invasion of privacy, because they don't have any to begin with. For them, God is always looking over their shoulders, tapping their phone calls, hacking into their computers, and watching every single thing they do all the time. Must be scary.

Also, the large part of the Christian majority does not think like you do. I doubt they'd all gather up and agree to vote all the non-Christians out of the country. Of course, if you want to try, be my guest. I'd love to laugh in your face when you fail.

The person in question is a Brit, and thus whose government is a signatory of the European Convention on Human Rights, I notice.

In this case, let's all have a nice resounding chorus of "Article 8, bitch."

In response to GigaGuess

"Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

It's currently attributed to Benjamin Franklin.
