What happen to "thou shalt not kill?"
11/5/2007 9:47:03 PM
Screw "thou shalt not kill" what about all these bible-thumpers crying about abortion?!
11/5/2007 9:51:39 PM
So Israelites only killed bratty (demonic, in your terms)kids but spared them rape??? oh, yeah that's completely justifiable.
Does that mean if I choose to have an abortion because I'm certain that it is the son of Baal or Beelzebub, it will be ok in the eyes of Gawd?

Blood for the Blood God! Skulls for the Skull Throne!
You know, I think the entire trinity is undead. What with this bloodsucking god, we now have the Vampire, the Zombie and the Holy Ghost.
No wonder they hate all other religions. They'd be terrified of clerics/paladins with the 'Turn undead' ability.
This also suggests that their own clerics channel negative energy. Making them neutral or evil.

How do you know no children were raped? Were you there, fundie?
Next time you feel the need to express yourself...just STFU.
11/5/2007 10:01:00 PM
Spoken like a true Islamo-fascist terrorist. Way to go!
11/5/2007 10:21:41 PM
No we didn't rape the kids. We just killed them.
11/5/2007 10:24:58 PM
I love the smell of propaganda in the morning. It smells like... roast lamb.

"And killing and war isnt neccesarily immoral."
Unless you kill everyone in a country, except the virgin women who you "take to be your wifes". Or if you kill almost all inhabitants of a city because it was standing where you'd like to live. Or if you start a war based on lies/greed.

" Also, the Israelites did not rape any kids when they took their land."
They were instructed to take unto themselves any women who had not been with a man, and considering that girls were married off in their early (very early) teens, it is not unreasonable to consider that 13 and 14 year olds were raped, and I would consider that raping children. The rest were, as you point out, simply murdered.
Your only way to deny your deity's responsibility for those atrocities is to accept that, as historians generally agree, the Israelites never "took their land" in the first place. They were just a small nomadic people who slowly grew in influence and made up these stories to bolster their claims to greatness.

Killing and war are always immoral, but they are still sometimes necessary.
What proof exists for the claims that the Malachites (I hope I got the spelling right.), Canaanites, etc., the recipients of god's pogroms, were engaged in these vile practices?
11/6/2007 1:07:30 AM
It's only immoral if "they" are killing the soldiers on your side, right?
11/6/2007 2:36:52 AM
...so I can kill you?
11/6/2007 2:41:57 AM
There is no reason to believe that any of those people were involved in any "vile practices." That's just fundie rationalization after the fact - "God wouldn't have let them die if they hadn't been horrible people."

Doesn't surprise me that Sam Harris attracts cuckoos like this.
BTW, "The End of Faith" is a must read.

" And killing and war isnt neccesarily immoral.""
Then you won't mind if I kill you and your kids.

Of course, a guy who is unable to differentiate fact from fiction, perfect. Now, from a person married to an archaeologist, MY ASS WITH VILEST PRACTICES. There isn't a single proof that those guys had anything to do with "raping children". There was some sacred prostitution, but they didn't rape anybody. And by the way, I prefer rapists to killers, if you ask me. After all, why did the Jews kept the virgins "for themselves"?

The Last Conformist
I suppose there is no inherent reason that argumentum ad hollywood should only be resorted to by idiots, but the correlation is impressive.

Where does it mention Rosemary's Baby and Damien in the Bible. Chapter and verse please.
11/6/2007 9:45:14 AM
Ah yes, the gospel according to John Hagee...

Also, the Israelites did not rape any kids when they took their land. They killed kids, yes
Oh, well that's okay then.

It's interesting that Moses makes his army stay out of camp (and away from the Tabernacle) for a week after their butchery of the Midianite women and boys to allow them to purify themselves.
If the troops were just 'doing God's will' why would they need ritual cleansing afterwards?
