Irony that he mentions double edged sword...

Don't we have an Unintentional Truth Award?
10/7/2007 9:51:28 PM
Goosey: Not too sure about that; they're more like a single-edged sword that can't be held without pointing the edge toward yourself.

The only thing sharp about Scripture is when the edge of the page gives you a paper cut. Otherwise it's a collection of books 2+ millennia old that need lots of interpretation to relate to modern life.

Our chief weapon is surprise!
...Surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our three weapons are fear, and surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope....
Our four...no... Amongst our weapons.... Hmf... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surpr.... I'll come in again.
10/7/2007 10:02:31 PM
That's a pretty dull sword...
10/7/2007 10:33:22 PM
Curious metaphor that double-edged sword.
Plus, the scriptures are a dull, bent sword made of chrome-plated Korean cheese.
10/7/2007 10:42:15 PM
I always liked the metaphor, "sharp as a bowling ball".
10/7/2007 10:44:55 PM
Also, it's time to learn something about grammar, punctuation, and mechanics.

"Now the Lord will give you meat, and you will eat it. You will not eat it for just one day, or two days, or five, ten, or twenty days, but for a whole month - until it comes out of your nostrils and you loathe it - because you have rejected the Lord, who is among you..."
I'm just not seeing it.
10/7/2007 10:55:14 PM
Ha ha ha!
This one is funny in the 'inadvertantly clever' way.
Though I'm surprised he didn't call it a '2 edge sword'. Seems he only uses numbers when it's not appropriate.
10/7/2007 11:03:11 PM
Too bad I know how to counter you sacred book: fire.
10/7/2007 11:09:45 PM
You have no idea what that turn of phrase means, do you?
10/7/2007 11:14:27 PM
You know, as a xtian shouldn't, you know about the scriptures already?
10/7/2007 11:20:35 PM
You're giving Christians way too much credit. You're assuming that most of them actually read the bible. They don't. They believe it because they have been told to.
10/7/2007 11:27:40 PM
And given the fundies don't have a handle, this has gotta hurt!
10/8/2007 12:02:18 AM
Time to drop the H-bomb of truth on these primitive fuckers!
btw all, the knob end is paraphrasing Ephesians 6.
I much prefer the crap about donning the breastplate of righteousness myself.
10/8/2007 12:02:59 AM
As I've noted before, whenever the scriptural verses start flying I know I've won.
10/8/2007 12:19:48 AM
It is time to start writing properly in English again.
10/8/2007 12:39:54 AM
This reminds of that scene in the movie 'Saved!' where one of the characters screams, holding a Bible - "this is not a weapon!"
It may be a movie, but it's true. The Bible is not a weapon.
10/8/2007 1:25:32 AM
Its time 2 learn the scriptures...
It's time to learn English too. You won't convince anyone of your intellectual superiority by replacing words with numbers... trust me on that.
10/8/2007 1:29:38 AM
Number of keystrokes saves by substituting "2" for "to": two
Is it really worth it to type like that and make yourself look like an illiterate ass?
Even more so when trying to discuss a _book_?
10/8/2007 1:39:58 AM
"THESE GILDED EDGES ARE SHARP!"
10/8/2007 2:19:36 AM
The truth of Valen is a three edged sword.
So sayeth Kosh.
10/8/2007 3:10:58 AM
Nothing compares 2 yooooouuuuu...
I've always liked Prince.
