Mister Spak
(christian/shiite/sunni/catholic) people are the most put-upon, victimized, oppressed people in the world if you listen to the (christian/shiite/sunni/catholic)
lobby.
"You (self-described) christians don't even know what it is to be REALLY oppressed- move to Iran or Saudi Arabia if you want to
find out."
Fixed.

Actually, Drakeal V2, despite the yaoi fixation (and really, it's never fair to judge a country by their pornography...), Japan treats homosexuality as a curiousity, and, according to my friend who lived there for over six months, a phase.

There is no downside to coming out in the US? Tell that to Matthew Shepard or any of the other countless gay people who have been hurt and victimized. Fuckwad.

"(aw, quit being such a whiny fag :p"
I'll start this off with fuck you with something hard and sandpapery. I absolutely loathe that word.
"Gay people are the most put-upon, victimized, oppressed people in the world if you listen to the gay lobby."
Because it's not like we have any people persecuting us, or bashing us for merely being who we are, right?
"There is absolutely ZERO down-side to coming out gay in the U.S..."
See above.
"...in fact it can gain you many 'rights' straight people don't have..."
Name one. Just one. Go ahead, I'll wait.
"...plus you can pull the victim card anytime someone disagrees with you or denies anything you want, any law you support or oppose, any right you claim, in fact anything you want to change or to have not change."
The fact that it generally has a bias against us, or flat out ignores us is irrelevant, eh? Freedom for the majority, and fuck everyone else! And how dare we try and stand up for ourselves and try and gain basic human right? Shame on us.
"Gay people hold some of the highest offices..."
Bullshit.
"...are some of the richest and most powerful..."
Bullshit.
"...some of the biggest celebs and stars of music and movies and tv, etc etc etc."
Mostly bullshit. There are a few gay celebs, but saving a very select few, they tend to be novelties, rarely considered as anything other than a niche market. And several celebs come out or are outed, and it devastates their careers. how do you reconcile that?
"yet you still read tripe like the crap in the above post about how 'oppressed' they are, and if you dare disagree you are labeled 'homophobic'."
Read above. People like you seem to make it their pasttime to make our lives as miserable as possible.
"Its pretty much like that for any of the 'cult of victimhood' embraced by many members of many minority groups in this country."
No possible way it could be justified. Oh, no no no...
"I, and a lot of other people, are pretty sick of it."
Yes, why should you have to treat others with respect. This is AmeriKKKa. Fit in, or die.
"The only thing that prejudices me against gay people is constantly having to read/hear about how oppressed they are."
Tell that to Matthew Sheppard. He won't catch most of it, because he was beaten to death on a fence. Better yet, tell it to his parents. That oughtta be worth the price of admission.
"No one likes to hear constant whinging and complainin..."
No, we don't So shut up, and leave us alone!
"...while at the same time they enjoy perks and advantages straight people DON'T have."
The right to get fired, based on sexuality. The right to be blackmailed by those who would use said information for their gain. The right to get told frequently how you're going to burn in hell for choosing to be yourself. Yep. What a life.
"I say that the United States is the MOST TOLERANT country concerning gays in the world..."
Bullshit.
"...proven by the fact the richest, most famous and most powerful gay people in the world live here by choice."
Got any stats on that? Because it sounds like scatistics to me.
"And foreign gays come pouring in to become citizens."
And then they meet the bible belters.
"You (self-described) queers don't even know what it is to be REALLY oppressed- move to Iran or Saudi Arabia if you want to find out."
"Just be happy I only cut off one leg...I could have cut them both off."

Why does this stupid shit make this website? It doesn't have anything to do with religion, mush less a "fundie" approach to religion.

"Gay people hold some of the highest offices"
This may well be true, but it's hardly the gay community's fault that Republicans are such closet cases.

Substitute fundie in there for fag and gay and the statement makes a lot more sense.

I applied for a job at an independent Macintosh retailer in Las Vegas and didn't get it because they found out I was gay (it was "a proudly Christian-owned business").
I couldn't even get a job at a store whose logo was a rainbow fruit. :-(
And where, pray tell, are the rights that I have that straight people don't have? I'm waiting...

"Coming out" means the risk of being ostracized from your friends and family. I'd consider that a down-side. You have to have a really obnoxious family to consider that an up-side.
What rights can gays gain that straight people don't have? The right to be beaten and persecuted? The right to not inherit from your loved one? The right to not be considered next of kin if your partner is a patient in a hospital. Yeah, those are realy coveted rights!
You belong to a majority, and have done so for your whole life. You can't even begin to imagine how it would be to be a persecuted minority.
Again, what perks and advantages do gays have that straight people don't? The advantage of not being allowed to adopt, to marry your love.
If you think that USA is the most tolerant country, you are living in lala-land.
