tmtoulouse: sounds a bit french, I didn’t think religion ever made it onto a radar screen in that part of the world.
for Jesus' name: Phillip-George (c)1974,

These days they are too busy with their shite economy and ferrying thousands of unwanted immigrants through the channel tunnel to worry overly about religion

No one can be that ignorant, I call poe.

There's this thing called the Roman Cath--
ah hell, nevermind, depending on the flavor of fundie they aren't Christians anyway. I guess owing fealty to the Whore of Babylon would still be a religion though.

As someone who's been to France a few times, and seen the magnificant cathedrals, I beg to differ.
Also, I despise anti-French sentiment. So by that logic, I despise Phillip-George too.

I fart in your general direction.

For followers of a tax-cheat and liar convicted in federal court, you CSE'ers seem to be awfully hypocritically judgemental of others! I suggest you remove the log from your own eye before looking for the speck in another's.

As a Frenchman, I have to say that:
Seriously, go get yourself an history book, you eedjit!

I was sure that I saw quite a few churches in Paris. Are you telling me the Notre Dame, the Madeleine, the Saint-Chappele, and the Sacre-couer are for the pigeons?
4/27/2008 9:25:05 PM
the bishop of Rome used to address the king of France as "most Christian Majesty"
religion was a principal element of politics during most of the region from 400 CE until about 1750

France spent centuries accepting as fact that their kings were in place because God put them there. You know, like the Bushies here in the United States.

Are you kidding me?
My Mother's completely and utterly French, and her family cannot shut up about how the previous Pope neglected to name Mary co-redemtrix.
See, the French are typically *Roman Catholic*.

Americentricism. Such a terrible disease. I bet Phillip-George hasn't even left his home state, never mind his country.
Ignorance. There should be a law against it.

The Jesuits would like a word with you.
Bring a stick to defend yourself, they're hair-pullers.
Also, allez-faire vous enculer.

You recall Charlemagne, that guy who was the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire? It was not called holy because it was full of holes.
(Oh, you haven't heard of him? Nevermind)

It might be starting to drop off the radar screen now, the French being several light years ahead of the dumb fuck American fundies, but it was certainly high on the screen in times past.
PS I've been inside Notre Dame. I could have sworn it was a cathedral, but maybe I was mistaken and it was a giant pizza parlour or something.

Hmm... well, if "religion" means batshit literalist YEC Christian fundyism, then he's probably right... hopefully. France is too near the UK where I live.

Well, y'know, in an historical event called the "French Revolution", clerics were a popular target for the guillotine besides nobles. I wonder where the revolutionaries got all these clerics from when there was no religion in France? Did they import them from the USA so they had somebody to chop off their heads?

"I didn’t think religion ever made it onto a radar screen in that part of the world"
And thank fuck that it doesn't.
We in Europe aren't as obessed about religion as you fundie nutty buggers are over there.

"Men will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest."
-- Denis Diderot
Unfortunately the French weren't quite able to complete this task, but the Catholic Church has become a little less vocal since the Revolution.

Hey, look who it is.

Except for that French guy who killed himself because gay people have rights there now. There are a few people here who could learn from that guy.
