Yes, a Doctorate in Ministry of Christian Counselling (the only DMCC Qualification I could find) REALLY makes you qualified to comment on medical matters!
What a loser.

"Dr" Dixon is completely wrong, of course. However, some of the commenters here are wrong, too- it does not take "several months" for the fetal heart to start beating. According to Dr. Spock AND the Mayo Clinic (two non-fundie sources), the baby's heart starts beating roughly 22 days after conception.
That is only slightly more than three weeks... certainly a lot longer than the "few hours" that this dummy "Dr" suggests- but also not nearly as long as some of the people here are claiming.
To Garfield: it's kinda odd that you didn't get to hear your babies' heart beats at the prenatal visits! With all four of my bio babies, it was a big event when we went to an appointment and could hear the heartbeat. I wonder if the equipment they used on you was not sensitive enough or something? Aww, it is too bad you didn't get to hear them, too, because it is a magical moment ^_^ (never fails to make my big burly husband cry, ha ha).
Anyway, "Dr" Dixon is a dumbass, like most fundies- they claim to be holy and hold the Ultimate Truth(tm), but have no problem with lying through their teeth to make a "point". Go figure!

Fake Edit: I've had to submit this like three times and it won't post... apologies if it shows up multiple times.

Ah, another example of the Kent Hovind class of made-up shit.
Did he get his "doctorate" from the same diploma mill as Hovind perchance?
More to the point, is there any chance that this individual might find himself on the receiving end of a medical malpractice suit as a result of his inane prattlings? It would be poetic justice ... :)

If by "a few hours" you meant "about three weeks, give or take a couple of days," then yes.
So what's your doctorate in again? Podiatry, right?

Looking at the people who run that site, they are all middle aged to older white males who are members of some kind of Baptist church. Surprise, surprise. I assume their "Dr." titles come from their church, and not from a nationally recognized and accredited institute of higher learning, because those places are anti Christian and anti American.
I always find it funny when fundies tell me they live in the real world...

Replace hours with weeks and you're on to something, Doc. As it is, not so much.

C'mon, you can do better.
I don't even care all that much and I can come up with better arguments. Or at least more truthful.

This should have a "I LIE FOR JESUS!" award.
Doctor? I oughta' think he needs a good lesson in biology. I bet that PhD was for studying the Bible!

Nice.
Try 8-8.5 days after conception for Mus musculus. (Mouse).
If you are going to brainwash teens with your bullshit, at least make it plausible. You make me sick.

I'm somewhat pro-life, and even I must call out this blatant lie. The heart doesn't exist until much farther into the pregnancy.
I value the expectancy, the possibility. I realize that at the point of conception it is but cells.

and a few hours after your conception, I'm sure you already had a tiny little fundie mind, already producing moronic garbage to spew out at unsuspecting teenagers.
yeah right.

you know Necronomikron, the argument that the potential should be valued more in most cases is the only one that has come close to swaying me (or anyone I know). why don't more fanatical pro-lifers catch on?

A few weeks after concetion, the zygote is a mass og cells about the size of your thumbnail. Heart and hands appear later in fetal development. However fast this may be, I celebrate my birth as the beginning of my life, not time spent as a fetus, even though I had a womb of my own :-).
