Dragon mom, don't be so harsh on him. Things can be said in a more civilised way. Jokes aside, she's right about the amount of stupidity in this guy. He forgets that St Elisabeth was six months pregnant when John the Baptist did it(at that time, almost nobody performs an abortion). Concerning King David, well, the womb is a metaphore tending to hyperbolise. Nothing more, nothing else. And we're not supposed to be Kings of Israel. And why do you conveniently remove those verses from Deuteronomy, in which they compensate a woman who has miscarriaged?. Again, "help" in a better way.

I have three children. When I went to the initial pre-natal appointment for each one of them, it was way to early to hear a heart beat! (because there was no heart, maybe?) Maybe seeing a real Dr. specialized in gynecology helped me to have enjoyable pregnancies and relatively easy births.
I never was faced with an unwanted pregnancy. I believe there are so many preventive meassures a couple can take that abortion should be obsolete. Unfortunately it's not like this, but instead of banning abortion and taking sex-Ed out of schools, we should educate our children, explain the use of condoms, b/c pills and abstinence. It's just irresponsible to tell young women to have a child, they never be able to raise. It is delusional to believe that teens won't have sex because we tell them god will punish them. Gosh, the way fundies raise their kids, they probably don't even know they have sex!
Anyway, abortion will always be necessary for incest and rape victims, for health reasons and to help out women in bad situations. Education is the key, to keep it to a minimum!
And now, Dr. Misogynecology, appologize for lying and REPENT!!!!!

So this 'heartbeat'...does it come before or after the z/e/f develops its gills and coat of hair? And I thought 'heartbeat' necessitated a heart, but then again I don't have a phoney doctorate, just a real college degree.

The human brain takes much longer to fully function, as the doctor's quote amply illustrates.

What the hell? Are you kidding me? This has got to be a Poe; not even the most adamant, virulent pro-lifer makes a claim this easily disproven!
Besides, the logic is fundamentally flawed for a pro-life argument: it is arguning that the fetus is a human because it has a "heart." If you make the case about recognizable human organs and biological proceses...well, the argument just ended, and the pro-lifers lose.

So in fundie-speak, "real help" apparently means "egregious lies".

What is no. You should have your degree revoked (if Dr. isn't a self given title) for being a retard.

A few seconds before conception, a tiny pecker starts pecking.
When you believe that the only knowledge which matters was written 2000 years or more ago, why would you bother to learn about embryology?

Is that all? When I was a zygote I could play the piano. It was really hard because in addition to having no hands, I had no piano.
As a side not, I respectfully decline to support animal rights as requested by a link on this page.

Shame on your for passing out false information. You know what the Lord says about liars, don't you?

I'm wondering if this "heart" is just a poetic hyperbole. Because, you know, I concede that the Egyptians thought that the heart was the most important part of the body, and despised the brain(remember that not only Jews and Egyptians were neighbours and ex-enslavers and ex-enslaved), but I'm more than tired of that copy-cat of the biblical language.

"Dr" Dixon, you are a liar plain and simple. You are totally wrong, but you know that don't you. A few hours after conception a zygote is a few hundred undifferiented cells called a blastocyst. No heart; no nervous system; no gut; nor bones or eyes.
Dude. If you are *really* a doctor, then I'll remember to come to you the next time I think leeches will cure whatever ails me. Idiotic but dangerous Quack that you are, I'm sure you will be able to give me good advice...

When I was an ovum, I was incomplete. When I was a zygote, I was isolated. When I was a blastocyst, my life was hollow. When I was an embryo, the yolk was on me.
At none of these points was I aware of a damned thing.
I hope Dr. Dixon practices mumbojumbo in a church and not medicine.

That is funny, cause any real medical doctor can tell you that the heart does not develope into a functioning organ till a lot later.
In fact (fact = a concept that fundies can't understand) a few hours after conception there is still only one cell there, maybe two. It takes a while for the egg to implant into the uterus and by the time it does that it is meerly a ball of cells.
I wonder sometimes what these fundies smoke because I sure as hell want to find out what so I can get it and ignore "facts" and "science" and "reality".
