Or we could just use the first 7-10 numbers behind the decimal point.
Either way is fine, but I'd like the people programming the robots that build things to make sure that everything that is supposed to be round is actually round.

"Do you see the problem now?"
Yes, you're a cretin. Numbers are not symbolic. Now explain why your book of myths states that pi = 3.

Pi is not symbolic, people of various professions use it on a single basis. The pi symbol is just that, a symbol, used because pi cannot be represented with an exact set of numbers.
If you claim all are numbers are symbolic please discard your money, accounting information, electronic devices and so on as they all contain numbers and are thUs 'symbolic'. Heck, discard your bible because aren't the verses numbered?

So my former co-worker didn't really embezzle $300,000...because numbers are only symbolic?

"How can a symbol be considered symbolic if it is greater than that which it represents?"
Amphibole. Quit trying to confuse the facts by shifting your words around. Just admit you don't know what the fuck you're talking about and that your Holy Book of Horrors is dead wrong.

The Greek letter pi is symbolic of the actual number, which has an infinite decimal representation.
The number itself is what is being symbolized, asshat.

Yeah, I see the problem.

Sure do. The problem is that you can't reason your way out of a wet paper sack with a hole in it.

Let me put it this way, if you think pi is unnecessary in your every day life, you are sadly wrong! You must begin to practice, "Would like a pie with your order?"

Symbols and numbers generally occupy no area, except the area of your brain where you think.
