Quote# 27710

I find it strange that they made you a "guardian" on this forum with the knowledge that you would subtlety persuade us to see the world from your perspective. This quote goes against the Christian God, who has revealed Himself to us through the Bible alone and revealed to us in it that men are not to use their abilities to achieve that which threatens Him (remember the Tower of Babel?). Science has rendered God unnecessary for the universe and for the existence of mankind. That is far worse than building a tower, so its hard to imagine God is approving of this.

Stop using the computer! Go live in a cave, and don't even try and start a fire to keep youself warm!

Afterall, God really hates it when you use your brain.

"you would subtlety persuade us to see the world from your perspective."

Worried that you might see the light?

I'm sure God can take a week off with his mind at ease knowing you're here to speak for him. Tell me, does God prefer Cheezits or Sun Chips?

Wow, the "No Hyphen" T4C is catching up in sheer stupidity to Randy's T-4-C.

God doesn't hate science. Your God created the world with its science, the way that things work. It's not a new thing. Bad bad science didn't just appear out of thin air.

I love it when fundies make my points for me. "Science has rendered God unnecessary for the universe and for the existence of mankind."

It still surprises me how often they make their God sound feeble, apparently without intending to.

Not only has science rendered God superfluous,it has also invented the mentholated cough drop and silly putty.

As a side note, this whole internecine fighting thing is somewhat nifty with regards to fundamentalism.

"Science has rendered God unnecessary for the universe and for the existence of mankind." Yes indeedy.

Right so how come he hasn't killed us all yet? Come on he's needed less provocation for mass slaughter before.

If God stopped the Tower of Babel, how come the Empire State Building is still OK? Surely God must have known the ancients couldn't build anything more than a few hundred feet tall with baked mud-brick and bitumen. Why didn't He just shake his head, roll His eyes and walk away?

So tall buildings are like kryptonite to God, not to mention chariots of iron.

Yet science does exist, therefore if your omnipotent God exists, then he must approve of it, even if you don't(and he might be pissed that you are trying to put words in his mouth).

Lovethyneighbor: "Science has rendered God unnecessary for the universe and for the existence of mankind."

No, the universe has rendered God unnecessary, in fact God was never necessary in any way. Science is just discovering it.

John: "If God stopped the Tower of Babel, how come the Empire State Building is still OK?"

Yes, and what about the International Space Station? And the language barrier isn't really that bad these days...

That's pretty interesting, actually... Are these people taking the Tower of Babel literally and how do they manage to do that?

Er? I thought your God was omnipotent. How precisely are men using their abilities to achieve that which "threatens" Him?

Heh, Tower of Babel...
Ever heard of skyscrapers, kid?

Also, your particular badly-translated version of that particular oft-edited and incomplete religious text is not evidence for anything. If your (or my) God(s) personally tells me otherwise, I'll reconsider. Fair enough?

I'm seeing two basic points in that posts:

1) Bible stories are ridiculous.
2) God is not necessary for the universe or for the existence of mankind.

I think the atheists in that forum are just toying with the Christians.

So... is LoveThyNeighbor a troll or not? Because I agree with posters in other threads based on LTN's gems - either he's the funniest Poe ever, or a very frightening person.

Of course God doesn't approve of this. Those who don't exist can't pass judgement.
