Quote# 23449

MANY many atheists have said that if there was a GOD, it is not the one in the bible, the GOD of the BIBLE was responsible for killings of the first born, killing of children and women, and killing of well.. anyone that is not perfect or of GOD.

Atheists also see christians as "cherry picking" the bible, as we take the good out but not the bad. However, the bible is GOD inspired. GOD is not evil, man can be evil. Man uses GOD as justification, which is not only logical but factual. There are GOD inspired words and events in the bible, since GOD is not evil, but man is, it is also only logical that the loving and beutiful parts describing GOD would be the inspirational and what we as christians feel as true of the one and only living GOD.

Man can be evil, but God cannot. So, if a man kills thousands he's evil, but when God does it it's good? You are dangerously deluded.

This black and white bullshit morallity is just another reason why I left Christianity all together.

I think I understand what's being said here:
Loving and 'beutiful' parts of the Bible: God inspired.
Those pesky evil and/or illogical bits: Man-made corruption!

So you can do anything you want, so long as it is in God's name?

That's some fucked up morality you've got there.

One thing I totally agree with, though I don't think he meant it. \" evil Man uses God as justification\" describes the bigotry of fundie religion to a tee.

You can twist bullshit all you want but I still don't buy that it's a pretzel.

If this is the slop that you want to cuddle with to help you sleep at night, then who am I to stop you?
If you think this post of blaming the late-comers as the authors of evil and god is absolved of all wrongdoing because he said so changes a thing, you've got another thing coming.

How blind to you have to be to believe it is this way because the supposed author of the book told you so.

I have to assume this is clear in Forever Love's mind. I have no idea of what the person is trying to say.

Handy hint: capitalising words doesn't mean they exist or are true.

And if God is so good, why do you miss the parts that don´t suit today´s standards?, why don´t you try to find the logical reason for those obscure passages?, if you don´t and deliberately ignore them, it´s a symptom of your own insecurity.

I'm confused... did you just cherry-pick in an attempt to discourage cherry-picking?

The bad parts are also in the bible, the bible is inspired by God and therefore God can be (and often is) evil.

MANY many atheists have said that if there was a GOD

Random capitalisation aside, can you see the inherent wrong in this sentence? Atheists don't believe in any god. That's right -- not even a GOD. So you're making an incorrect assumption in the first clause of your first sentence.

Remind me why I should read more? You've advertised yourself as a moron in about 10 words.

Mandie - just because atheists don't believe in any gods, doesn't mean that they can't engage in a hypothetical discussion of them
