The only thing sickening is that you are projecting some kind of child molestation charges at someone based on their lack of spirituality. How you can equate someones belief system with taking advantage of children is beyond all rational thinking. That is sick.

Why is it that the following is so hard for Christians to understand:
If there is no God and no spiritual world, then we are all we have in the universe. It is in our interest, therefore, to act in each other's interest, not because an external authority tells us to, but simply as a matter of principle and common decency (and, to a lesser extent, self-interest, though the payoff is not certain). Therefore, as the Wiccans say, an it harm none, do as thou wilt.
Does this literally never occur to such people? I mean, as "religious" views go, that's pretty much the shortest Scripture in existence, and it's terribly easy to understand, if a little complex in practice.

I'm getting kind of sick of this projecting. That they think that people without the restraint (as they see it) of religion, people will just go out and rape and murder, is insulting to say the least. What they really mean is that they, without the restraint of religion will go out and kill, torture and rape their children.
Only anecdotal, but my experience would suggest that that on morality and decency towards their fellow humans, atheists stack far higher than any theist. Religion forgives any transgressions just so long as you pray afterwards.

They love to pretend these moral rules of society are theirs, they're not, history shows all the rules of civilization were in place before the first Hebrew scroll was produced.
The Bible is behind in all them, it encourages murder in cases (unruly children, adulterers) and never adresses child abuse except to say the father determines a childs destiny absolutely. Biblical rights have been used as a defense in incest charges many, many times.
You have NO higher moral grounds. If the duplicity that exists in Bible and church doctrine were applied to the law of the land it would be a wasteland.

atheists obey the moral code of the society in which they live as codified by social mores and the laws, regulations, etc. No God or god required.
When was the last time a christian man killed his wife in the biblically specified manner because she was not a virgin on their wedding day ?
