you don't need \"divine extras\" for all that beauty.
In fact, the universe is even more beautiful when you see it for what it really is.
There's no need to add myth and fiction to things that are already awesome. It just takes away from their lustre.

Damn, when I see how hard these folks work at it I've been trying to avoid serious research.

How many atheists, agnostics, other skeptics, scoffers and doubters have taken the time to do some serious research since they originally made up their mind not to believe?
I have! Guess what, all the evidence supports my viewpoint!

Nobody can´t prove that God exists(or that it doesn´t exist either, for that matter)or that Jesus is his son. What you can do is believing it without harrassing the others and, for that matter, behaving EXACTLY as Jesus told you to. Not harrassing, I insist, but feeding the poor, not judging, helping...........

I've never had a professor say that (in med school now), and I desperately researched every aspect of religion when I lost faith in god (now I realize I only made the logical choice). Et tu, Brute?

oh sure, you christians will take credit for all the beauty in the world and say \"look at the glory of god\" but what about all of the war, disease, starvation and greed, do you take responsibility for that, NO!!! if you see the orange glow of a sunset, you say, look at the beauty of god's creation, but if you see the orange glow of a fire as a result of a bomb strike, you say it was the non-believers fault, even though the person responsible for the attack was a christian (bush).
So think about it, if you say that all the beauty in the world proves god's existance, just look at reality, by your logic, you just disproved the thing you were trying to prove, nice going

To a blind person, the existence of rainbows doesn't present any contradictions, and they have evidence that people actually have the ability to see, even if they can't. I don't have any evidence that your perception of God is real and not a delusion.

They've made no research because no extra-biblical source is going to tell them if Jesus is the son of God or if God is one in three or whether he was born out of a virgin. The fathers of the church agree too. It´s a matter of faith.

Wrong. Beauty is subjective, existence of an entity isn't. You fail.

Quit slandering professors. Yes, even the liberal "PC" ones. Just stop it. No prof of mine ever mentioned Jesus outside of a class on philosophy, religion, or history unless some bullheaded student broached the subject for the sole purpose of being confrontational.

It's telling that you chose two things that are visual illusions to compare God with. The sun doesn't really turn red when it disappear "around the corner", it's the particles in the atmosphere that makes it look red. A rainbow is just a projection of light through a raindrop or a mist, it doesn't really exist at all.
Sure, it might feel comfortable to imagine a father-figure sitting on a cloud, but that doesn't make it more real. The image of Santa Claus going round the world to give all children presents is rather comforting too, but we all know that millions of kids (in Christmas-celebrating countries) don't get any Christmas presents.
Most atheists were once believers, but have done that serious research that you talk about, and came to the conclusion that it's highly unlikely that there are any deities governing our lives. For me it was gradual, I never made up my mind not to believe, it just made less and less sense. I actually experienced a feeling of loss when I realized that there probably isn't any heaven where we can meet our loved ones afterwards.
