Scientists, along with Al Gore, believe that the cause of GW is the pollutants from mankind and are determined to "fix it", as if it can be done. Well, I wish'em luck.
If it makes them feel important to believe they can simply fix it, let them because it's all they have. They sure don't have the ONE person that makes all the difference. That would be JESUS.
I think that this whole thing is unbelievably funny. I have been told by many athiests that I lack intelligence because I don't believe or follow everything that science "proves". I don't think that I require very much intelligence. Why? I have enough COMMON SENSE to clue me in on what's going on around me.
My opinion is: common sense is far more necessary than intelligence, but that's just me.

I love this kind of sentiment:
According to fundies like this, global warming is God's will, a sign of the End Times and the Great I-told-you-so. Since global warming is God's will, it can't be stopped. I'm surprised Robin isn't advocating everybody drive Hummers and accelerate the whole effect to summon Jesus sooner and smite the eeevil atheists.
Scientists believe that the cause of plague is the lice on rats brought in on ships and are determined to "fix it", as if it can be done. Well, I wish'em luck.

A lot of good prayer and Jesus did to the plague victims of Europe in the middle ages. A good dose of science would have prevented much suffering.
Common sense is wrong a lot of the time. Want some examples? Quantum physics, relativity, psychological profiling of rapists, causes of domestic violence...
Common sense says that the draughts, hurricanes and abnormal wheather we´re suffering, for whatever reason, is not normal. And if you think that Jesus is going to take all our CO2 and make it disappear, I´m sorry but keep dreaming. It´s simply not going to happen.
Fucking idiot.
Sane people understand that polution is KILLING us.
We understand that we CAN fix it.
Its NOT about feeling important ,,, Its about SURVIVAL YOU FUCKING DOLT.
Your imaginary jesus is as irrelevent as Frodo Baggins.
Get over your lazy and self aggrandizing cult bullshit and WAKE UP!
Pull your head out of your ass and comb the shit from your hair.
So here's the theory: Everyone starts out with "common" sense (CS). If you keep yourself good and stupid, your supply of CS grows. But if you start going to school and messing around with "book learning" (BL), the CS gets squeezed out and replaced by BL. Your brain only has room for one or the other. The more BL you have, the less CS. CS also helps you do blue-collar stuff like fixing cars, stocking shelves, welding, running TV cables and following football. That's why high school drop-outs are always better at this kind of stuff. Southerners have more CS than Northerners, straights have more than gays, conservatives have more than liberals, men have more than women and guys who work with power tools have more than guys who do financial deals on cell phones. Making more than $20 an hour can drain your CS, too. [/sarcasm]
So A: all science is wrong.
B: If we prayed to Jesus, he'd fix global warming.
Common sense is a wonderful thing. Unfortunatly, people tend to confuse him and his close cousin, bloody-minded-lack-of-imagination
Common sense is merely a factor in determining intelligence. The younger you've achieved it is only a sign that you learn fast and therfore can absorb more then peers or older people.
It's overrated in adults as it's a definition of knowledge from experience or education (don't touch the stove burner, look both ways, don't jump off roofs, don't chase strange dogs and poke them with a stick, don't believe in fairy tales ) If you know this by four you're smarter than most fundies
You have neither intelligence nor common sense. One is needed for the other, stupid.
The scientists certainly don't think they can "simply fix it". They have realized that we are destroying the world, and they are urging everyone to do everything we can to slow the destruction rate. We won't be able to "fix it" within our lifetime, but we may slow it down enough so that the next generation can perhaps stop the destruction, and the generation after that might be able to reverse it slightly.
We have been polluting the world for a few hundred years, it can't be reversed in just a few decades.
If JESUS makes all the difference, then why hasn't he told his followers to not destroy the world that his father made them stewards over?
"My opinion is: common sense is far more necessary than intelligence, but that's just me."
But the point is that it is NOT "just you" in the world, but billions of them. And while common sense is a useful thing around the house, it cannot help you when you have actions affecting the whole world. For that you need intelligence and evidence. We have them both.
Confused?
