Quote# 21343

One of [the amoebas] gets the bright idea of wanting to exit this primordial soup. It tells other amoebas that it wants to grow legs to walk out of the soup. The other amoebas say: Wait, what's a leg? Well, a leg is made up of stuff; flesh, bones, blood vessels, tissue, and it has to have a nervous system for electricity to make those muscles work. Wait! What's a nervous system? But this amoeba is so smart it just tells them all to play along with it cause he is sick and tired of living in this soup. He tells all the amoebas to just WILL it to be so! Will it to be so! Will it to be so! Will it to be so! he screams at the top of his voice that hasn't even formed yet.

Strawman strawman strawman. It's all they have, really.

It seems like every Creationist I ever talk to says something absurd like, \"Evolutionists believe that a bear fell into the ice and turned into a whale!\"

To which I respond, \"Name one.\"

Which they can't do, of course, and not just because there's no such thing as an \"evolutionist.\" That's a silly, vacuous term that they made up. The correct term is \"biologist,\" or perhaps \"someone who's not a scientist, but is at least scientifically literate.\" I'm not sure if there's a word for that. Maybe there should be.

Why is it that fundies keep asserting that evolutionists are saying that mutation happens all at once? Are they all just that stupid?

Or a giant man with a long white beard who lives on a cloud made a regular sized man out of dirt. Yes, that makes so much more sense.

I wonder if he knows he's constructed a strawman, or if this how evolution was explained to him at his home school.

JP - that's how evolution was explained to him, dollars to donuts. Probably never stood a chance.

Because I can't say it over at IIDB, I'll say it here:

Tony, you're a fucking moron who knows nothing of evolution and are so narrow minded that you refuse to learn. Just fuck right off, thanks!

Amoebae cannot communicate this sort of complex information, Tony. And it looks like neither can you.

Why is it that creationists use these strawmen time and time again even after it has been explained to them why they are wrong?

See, when your only terms of reference is the holy babble, when you come to have to explain advanced concepts - you struggle a little.

Amoebas didn´t have the \"great idea\". And anyway, dear, something or somebody had to have the \"great idea\" anyway, only that there is more evidence for that intermediate amoeba than for a world made in six days.

That's exactly it!

Except it's completely and utterly wrong.
Just because you don't understand it, doesn't make it false. It just means you probably haven't done your research.
