So, La Tom is for free speech yet he wants to KILL the people who disagree with him through a civil war... Interesting.

Oh. It's from GOPUSA. You know, the organization that owns several military-themed gay porn sites and even sent a gay prostitute to the White House as a \"reporter\". The guy was featured on their own sites, no less. Gannongate!
Anyone care to remind me why these people are relevant?

No, seperation of church and state has always been there. The idea that America is a \"Christian country\" is a lie propagated by the religious right.

Question: How many GOP fundie Christians does it take to tell you an honest-to-God quote from the Constitution? Answer: No one knows, we can't find a DAMN one who's ever read the THING! To all fundies: READ THE DAMN CONSTITUTION! Besides the famous \"seperation of church and state\" which means exactly what it says (our Founding Father's, unlike our current politico scam-artists, wrote in clear precise language that anyone could understand) in the Bill of Rights, the only other mention of religion in the ENTIRE DOCUMENT is a negative one (to you guys), not allowing an applicant's religion or lack thereof to keep them from getting a federal job. That's it! Not another word about religion. MY ten-year-old daughter knows more about the Constituion than this clown! Of course she doesn't have an agenda of hate!

Anyone else than me find it odd that ACLU defends students' right to pray at extra-curricular settings, and yet is regarded as anti-theistic by the fundies?

The first amendment, and the treaty of Tripoli set very clear that you have freedom to PRACTICE your religion, not to impose it. And Russia is no longer communist, so, what´s left?, oh yes, imposing a prayer on others is not freedom of speech, because you´re violating the freedom of speech of others to pray or not whatever they choose.

The ACLU isn't persecuting Christians. It's preventing them from persecuting non-Christians.

\"The ONLY \"world constitution\" which had or has a \"wall\" between church and state is the \"communist constitution\" or Russia.Hey, don't forget to do your France-bashing! We have constitutional separation between church and state too! As a matter of facts we already had it well before Karl Marx was even born (though we may have lost it a few times during relapses of monarchy).
BTW, Napoleon, did you see that on the page you gave a link for?
\"I believe I have seen arguments that while the Federal Government may not establish a religion, any state may do so. South Carolina considered such legistslation if memory serves.\"
That is indeed the argument. It wouldn't surprise me if South Carolina recently tried it, but I don't know for sure. Missouri recently tried to pass a law that would have declared Christianity to be its officially recognized majority religion, whatever that means.
