Since evolution and creationism cannot be proven right or wrong. It's just pure idiocy to think that you should only teach evolution or creationism. It's just like all the theories about how the dinosaurs died, no one is absolutely sure so you are usually taught at least 2 of the prefered theories. But to call this some stupid conservative thing really just highlights why people think liberal thinkers are the antichrist. The main problem with it, is that the school board made a decision on what to teach in Science class not based on science but what they "felt" was correct. Science isn't about feelings, it's about facts data and experiments. Outlawing theories is un-American and can only lead to a closed minded society that has a problem grasping difficult new concepts.

Nobody is outlawing theories. My understanding of the situation is the theories permissible in a science class must be of a scientific nature. That's where the theories of Creationism and Intelligent Design fall apart. They are not scientific theories because they work on the "Goddidit" principle. That makes them religion, and religion has no part in a science class.
How many times must this be explained to you?
Well Brick Wall (apropriate name), you're wrong, but for the sake of argument, let's assume you're right. That would mean that we should also teach our children about Ymir, the primordial cow who licked the world into existence. And it should be given no less emphasis than the christian creation theory. Now if you are willing to do that, I might hear you out, otherwise, you are a hypocrite and you ideas are not worthy of consideration.
Science isn't about feelings, it's about facts data and experiments.
Exactly, and since creationism/ID wouldn't recognize a fact if it bit them in the butt they are absolutely not scientific. Creationism is "Goddidit", and ID is "a sentience I can't call God for legal reasons did it", plus attempting to find (usually percieved) flaws in the ToE, no matter how minor, to claim that "the ToE can't explain this detail, so it is all wrong".
Since evolution and creationism cannot be proven right or wrong.
Wrong. Creationism cannot be proven. Evolution has been proven. It is just the particulars that are being debated.
It's just pure idiocy to think that you should only teach evolution or creationism.
You should teach only science in a science class. That would be evolution.
It's just like all the theories about how the dinosaurs died, no one is absolutely sure so you are usually taught at least 2 of the prefered theories.
Absolutely! Creationism is not anywhere close to being one of the scientifically preferred theories.
But to call this some stupid conservative thing really just highlights why people think liberal thinkers are the antichrist.
Those of us in the antichrist league have noticed that most creationists are politically conservative.
The main problem with it, is that the school board made a decision on what to teach in Science class not based on science but what they "felt" was correct. Science isn't about feelings, it's about facts data and experiments.
And as soon as the facts data and experiments support creationism, it will be taught in science class.
Outlawing theories is un-American and can only lead to a closed minded society that has a problem grasping difficult new concepts.
I don't see how waving the flag makes your argument any more valid.
"Since evolution and creationism cannot be proven right or wrong."
Though technically correct, your presentation is designed to give the impression that the ToE and creationism are equally supported. That is false as the ToE has mountains of solid evidence behind it and creationism has only the ancient fairy tales of desert bumpkins supporting it.
"It's just pure idiocy to think that you should only teach evolution or creationism."
No, it's just good sense to teach that which is supported by all the evidence and by almost every qualified scientist in the life sciences.
"It's just like all the theories about how the dinosaurs died, no one is absolutely sure so you are usually taught at least 2 of the prefered theories."
Of course, in that case, both sides are supported by at least some credible evidence. Not so with creationism, which relies on ancient scriptures and has attracted only a few crack-pot scientists.
"But to call this some stupid conservative thing really just highlights why people think liberal thinkers are the antichrist."
That just shows the limited thinking of persons proposing that liberals are anti-christs.
BTW, "liberal thinkers" is plural, "the anti-christ" is singular. Buy a clue, moron.
"The main problem with it, is that the school board made a decision on what to teach in Science class not based on science but what they "felt" was correct. Science isn't about feelings, it's about facts data and experiments."
Indeed it is, and creationism is not supported by any credible data.
"Outlawing theories is un-American and can only lead to a closed minded society that has a problem grasping difficult new concepts."
Teaching unsupported, crack-pot "science" in public schools is un-American.
If one is going to allow creationism to be taught in public schools, one must also allow teaching creation of the world by the FSM, the pink unicorn, and by being pulled out of my nose. Fair is fair.
One of the key elements of a theory is that it is falsifiable. Creationism (and ID) are not falsifiable, because any data that does not fit with them is explained away as "God placed that there to decieve you". Because it is not a theory, it has no place being taught alongside evolution. We can teach creationism once you and some reputable scientists A) agree on some verifiable, repeatable experiment to falsify creationism and B) it is not proven to be false by that experiment.
^Exactly. Science can be disproven. God cannot. That's why God belongs at church.
On a completely unrelated topic, it was 75 degrees last night. Now, at 5:00, it's snowing. SNOWING IN DALLAS. Seriously, WTF?
Totally off topic, but... Blake, would you mind shipping some of that snow up this way? I'm living in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan -- basically Canada -- and we haven't got any snow on the ground. It's completely screwy.
I remember, when I was young, going out on Halloween through an inch or two of snow. I remember recently worrying if a friend would make it to my house safely for thanksgiving. But this year December is upon us and the ground is bare. There should be feet of snow! At this time of year, I used to walk to school beside snowbanks taller than myself. But now we've been surreally obeying, for weeks, an annual rule whereby we avoid parking cars on the road so that snowplows can go by and do their work, yet there is no snow. It makes the scene just out our front doors absurd.
Jeez, weather in America is screwed up or something, I don't remember the last time it snowed here (I think 2 years ago), let alone before December. In the meantime, Michigan has nothing. Maybe the Rapture really IS coming..../sarcasm
Blake: Are you new to the area or something? I have lived in the Dallas region for my whole life, and this weather isn't nearly as apocalyptic as the news reports keep trying to make it. Unnerving, yes, as was the temperature dropping 40 degrees in less than 2 hours last night, but something of the sort happens at least once every 2 or 3 years if not more often.

Wow. That's the stupidest thing I've read in a hell of a long time! Unbelievable. Every single thing he said was completely wrong, right up to
Science isn't about feelings, it's about facts data and experiments. Outlawing theories is un-American and can only lead to a closed minded society that has a problem grasping difficult new concepts.
The sad thing is, while that is actually right, he doesn't know what science or a theory is, or why Creationism fails to fit either.
The main problem with it, is that the school board made a decision on what to teach in Science class...
Yep. That would be SCIENCE. Not bullshit superstition from a religious text. That is not considered a valid scientific theory. Get over it.
Science isn't about feelings, it's about facts data and experiments.
None of which apply to your "theory" of creation.
Outlawing theories is un-American and can only lead to a closed minded society that has a problem grasping difficult new concepts.
Nobody is outlawing anything, you alarmist idiot. Science classes teach science and religion should be left for the religion class. It is also strange that you mention the inability to grasp "difficult new concepts", as it would seem that this is exaclty what the fundies do by religiously maintaining that science is wrong.
QED.
Since evolution and creationism cannot be proven right or wrong.
1) This is not a complete sentence. Do not put a period there.
2) Evolution could, in theory, be proven wrong. This is what makes it scientific - if we find something that contradicts it, it will be thrown out or modified. Creationism, however, has several assertions which cannot be proven false, because there is no data which creationists would acknowledge as falsifying their theory. Hence it is not scientific.
It's just pure idiocy to think that you should only teach evolution or creationism.
Evolution has all kinds of evidence. The entire field of biology depends largely on it. The fossil record provides confirming evidence. Creationism, on the other hand, has ... a book written by a bunch of primitive goat-herders who knew jack shit about science, a book that is flatly contradicted by observable reality (unless you want to allow wiggle room by saying God made it look false to test us, but in doing so you would make the theory entirely unscientific).
Science isn't about feelings, it's about facts data and experiments.
... of which evolution has (literal and figurative) mountains, and creationism has none.
Outlawing theories is un-American and can only lead to a closed minded society that has a problem grasping difficult new concepts
The christians are already here, you're too late with that.
Hell, I live in ND and there is no snow yet. Last year we barely had anything by x-mas.
Evolution has been proven right. Creationist are slowly making people think the opposite. Evolution has been proven right to the same extent as gravity. The fact that it isn't mathemathically proven does not mind. Of course the theory is subjected to revisions, but the fact that evolution takes place is not discussed, at least between honest people. If you think about all the different processes that work in the inside of your computer or in a modern car, it is not mathemathically proven that they will work, due to all the random processes and innacuracies. But you see them working.
When someone says that evolution can't be proven right, please answer with "It can and has been proven right."
Well here's the thing that most sane people look at: Creationism shouldn't be taught in school because it's not science, it's religon. If we are going to teach religious ideas on how the world was made, we should teach all of them and then let the kids decide which one is true.
The Theory of Evolution is the difficult new concept, which you people have a huge problem grasping. You're the close-minded ones, stupid.
Creation myths are the old, outdated "theories", from when people didn't know how the Universe worked.
Just as we no longer believe that thunderstorms are caused by Thor riding his goat-drawn carriage and hitting giants in the head with Mjolnir, we no longer believe that God created the world in six days.
Confused?
