A pastor at a church I once attended stated that he heard that HP books were written by a Satanist and said, Do you really want your children reading a book written by a Satanist.

The reason you can somehow see through the deceptions of an enemy supposedly more intelligent than you are is because he is a construct inside your own fucking head; you made up all those schemes and lies yourself so naturally you know everything about them.

They attack Harry Potter for two reasons:
1) It's popular and therefore a competitive myth. They can't handle another myth (they don't know their own that well)
2)It's magic gives them an in clause excuse. After all, without them the wizards and witches would be rampant all over the place.
