Atheism is a religion in the same way that not collecting stamps is a hobby. Or in the same way that bald is a hair colour.
The only thing atheists have in common is lack of a belief in god/s. Buddhists are religious, and they are atheists because they do not believe in any deity (Buddha was just a man, though an enlightened one).
