Polygamy was never endorsed by the Bible, the true definition of marriage is found at the end of Genesis 2 and where Jesus reiterates this in the gospels.

Retcon aside:
- It is nonsensical to derive the limits of an institution from a situation where these two were the only humans in existence .
- Sp the "be fruitful and multiply" speach is the ur-marriage? It's basically a parent giving His best wishes to the couple. By that standard, most couples "living in sin" are already married and formal weddings are unbiblical.
How is it that all of these "Christians" seem to be unaware that "the Bible" isn't a monolithic document?
There are many books called "the Bible." They're all different. There is no single, definitive book called "the Bible."
Jacob married with Rachel and Leah without receiving any condemnation from God. He was even blessed with being the father of the Hebrews!
Exodus 21:10 and Deut. 21:1517 give regulations on how to do it, along with Deut. 17:17, which is aimed to the kings.
According to Paul, marriage is overrated anyway. The only reason someone should have one, he said, is if you really can't keep it in your pants.
So again. WHO'S THE ONE TELLING THE TRUTH?
Oh, sure it isn't. Everyone knows the stories about various Hebrew patriarchs' harems.
OTOH marriage to one woman is a Greek and Roman custom.
The end of Genesis 2?
If you're alone with a woman YOU'RE RELATED TO, you cleave to her?
I mean, seriously, Woman was Adam's clone. Technically, Adam was Woman's 'Mother.' That's a pretty isolated precedent.
The END of Genesis 2 doesn't make any sense, either.
"2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh."
Adam and Woman were already one flesh, and Adam didn't have a mother, and hadn't, at that point, left his father.
Weird thing to base a definition on...

Martin: "If I don't like it, it was never endorsed by the Bible, whatever the Bible actually says. I can't be bothered to read it all; it's all thick and stuff, and has many, many pages...".
