Your job is not to raise a happy child, your job is to raise a responsible, capable adult that others don't actively want to kill.

"a happy child"
"a responsible, capable adult that others don't actively want to kill"
Who says the former can't grow up into the latter?
The best way to raise a responsible, decent adult is to begin with a happy child. Not a spoiled child, of course, but a happy child.
Problem is, anybody can be a target for killing. I'm not planning on getting married-- that can make me a target for fundies and sexists to attack. Some people are women-- that makes them a target for violent incels/MRA/ISIS folks to kill. Some people are men-- that can make them a target for violent radfems. Some people are non-binary-- that can make them a target of violent transphobes. And anybody can be the target of the self-appointed violent pro-conformist police.
When I want advice on anything, the first person I'd consult is the brain damaged bitch who choose to hitch her wagon to one of the most famously despised people on the web. You might well ask Anthony Scaramucci how to land & keep a nice cushy job.
The whole world has gone mad.
Even more disturbingly, she describes herself as "Christian, libertarian, wife, homeschooling mom . Gender equality denier."
That's not the job I committed to when I chose to have children, spacebunny. Clearly you put far less thought and effort into parenting than I do.
If you made the attempt, though, you might find it doesn't take all that much more work to raise a responsible, capable adult that others don't actively want to kill who also had a happy childhood.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
