I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the central complaint. First a girl wants to pursue a physical sport, something you types like to say is her trying to be a boy. She in fact, does well. Then at a major competition loses and... what? Complains she just can't compete with someone who used to be male? Kind of undercuts that last caption, as she was wrestling with the girls the entire time, even when she took second place. Besides which wrestling is divided by weight categories making this even less convincing as realistically contenders wouldn't have drastic weight advantages in their matches. So this is a story of a poor loser or what?
The closest thing is this story where a transboy isn't allowed to compete against boys because of Texas legislature - so he won the girl's competition.
Which is, of course, the complete opposite of the cartoon - but probably where he got the idea from.
THAT'S NO BOY! THAT'S "PEPPERMINT" PATTY REICHHARDT!
@Passerby
On top of that; Pre-pubescent boys and girls (like the little dorks in the cartoon) are basically the same in regards to size, build and physical strength so a little prepubescent transgirl would be no advantage over a cisgirl.
Finally; With the first panel....Apparently wrestling turns you into a hybrid of Marge Simpson's sisters and NERDS candy.
If she identifies as a girl, then she is a girl. Doesn't Ann identify as a girl?
The higher up you get, the harder the competition is going to be. If you can't handle losing, then you have to work even harder.
And, what others have said about weight classes.
Actually that's a real issue. Males are generally stronger, faster and quicker than females. Obviously there are two overlapping bell curves but in general that's just the way it is. So is it fair for a transgender female to wrestle (or do anything else in sports) against females?
There was a story a few years back about a smallish boy who wanted to play field hockey but there was only a girl's field hockey team at his high school so they let him play with the girls and he led the league in just about everything. Was that fair?
Notice that I'm not stating an opinion. I'm just asking the question because I honestly don't know.
@Alencon
Depends, really but it`s mostly a question for adult sports. In this regard prepubescent kids are basically the same in regards to physical attributes and with how today`s procedures are by the puberty time many can already be on the right hormones and so will not develop the advantage/disadvantage they would posses.
Confused?
