No spoiler-like tag ATM. I can use the empty "[]" tag to create a spoiler / click-to-show-me tag if you guys would like. I could also do hover-to-show-me if you'd prefer that. I've got a couple of other useless tags I could repurpose, including a blink tag (which has been disabled by changing its name to something I'll never tell).

12/17/2016 3:23:42 PM

I'd say click to show, in case there's folks like me that usually come here on mobile where hovering just isn't a thing.

12/18/2016 8:48:39 AM

@Ravy: I switch between my phone and laptop a lot, so I actually like the idea of combining both: click or hover to show.

Kid Cthulhu

I just got a ker-freiggen blewy trying to post this morning. It seems it didn't like the HTML for italics.

Hmmn, seems I need to use brackets instead of <. Good to know...

Quotes #123150 and #123152 are repeats unfortunately. One should be removed.

I have a very slow hookup and the quote took about ten minutes to be submitted. When it went to the front page my computer said that it was unable to open the page so I hit backspace and resubmitted the quote thinking that the first submission did not make it through. The second one passed without issue. Hopefully this is not a ban-worthy offence. I have been submitting quotes since 2008 and it would be a shame to lose that now.

And now I see there are at least four in the queue. I have no idea how that happened but I apologize either way.

Damn public access computer.

* Don't mind me, just testing something

12/21/2016 3:27:29 PM

I just found a ton of CTSTDT material. I think I'm still having issues submitting these things in the queue, so I figured I'd just drop it off here for you guys to look through.

12/21/2016 4:16:35 PM

@dxdydz: What kind of issues? What happens when you try? I want to make sure it's not yet another bug. My initial suspicion was wrong: your IP didn't accidentally get caught in the crossfire of banhammering submissions from people that repeatedly submit spam or stupid shit.

12/22/2016 7:24:43 AM

I'm not really sure what kind of issue it would be. The last few times I tried submitting something you said it wasn't in the queue, and I had submitted them from my phone. So maybe my phone is the problem.

I'll try submitting one from a desktop computer.

Edit: Hahaha... I feel like a huge idiot, there is a confirm submission button at the bottom of the page that shows up after the quote is submitted! I must have never seen it before due to the toolbar at the bottom of my phone's internet window.

I also had to resubmit the quote because I keep forgetting about the credit box :/

12/22/2016 10:36:08 AM

@dxdydz: Don't worry about it! I can be a complete ditz sometimes. Your quote is approved and very much WTF.

If you keep submitting these math nutters, then when the database makes the leap to UTF-8 later this year (I'm thinking along the lines of June or July when I have a vacation from teaching again), I might just make a BBCode [math] tag that implements a large subset of eqn and converts it to MathML.

12/23/2016 3:03:11 AM

I'll probably be submitting more of these types of things. What these guys have to say is always interesting... to say the least. Math crazy takes all different forms, sometimes the craziness is more coherent. Although this link is an example of pseudomathematics and is somewhat of a different flavor than plain old nuttery.

Also, if you're going to consider adding the eqn package then you might also want to add some text centering command, it makes formatted math look better.

Hello, each time I try to work on PubAd in .org and .com, I get an error, and when I go on .net, it says " You're out of quotes, well done."

Aside note, from where come the pic for the Dev's Board?

Just to let you know that if caamib was previously banned, he's evaded it; in his own vile way, too:

Time for him to experience the power of Mjolnir...!

Oh say, Willie, there they go.

The Watcher

Got a new iPad for Christmas (yay, wife!). But the page seems really zoomed in close. I can make it bigger, but it's already too big. I can't make it smaller. Can anything be done?

12/26/2016 12:34:03 PM

(meta name=viewport content=width=device-width) should be added to the page head, but the round brackets should be replaced with less-than-greater-than signs. It crashes when I type them in correctly.

12/26/2016 1:37:08 PM

Did everyone have a heavy metal holiday?

@The Watcher

I have the same problem on my iPad and I have not found a way to resolve it.

• #122361: "Diabolical Narcissism is of the most severe variety, what we refer to as “psychopathy”, and thus she [Hillary Clinton] is an Alpha Narcissist, very much desirous of personal power, all the way up to the national and even global level."
• #122361: "DN is an extremely grave pathology, and while certainly exploding among the populace (as evidenced by its direct corollary, homosexuality and all forms of sexual perversion)"

Oops on the nominations page.

@shy, Ravy, Pharaoh

Someone's evaded their ban:

it's almost cute how you think an ip ban will work in this day and age

Perhaps if registering became a requisite for posting...?

12/27/2016 1:52:26 PM

@Anon-e-moose: That's why I'm not a fan of IP bans. In the next few days, I'm going to employ a sneakier and harder to evade way of getting rid of these people. Here's a hint for the more technical minded: it's going to actually put one of the most reviled things about ASP.NET Web Forms to good use. Idiot better hope he has like 6 computers or an octuple-booting setup, all with different operating systems, web browsers, screen resolutions, viewport sizes, JavaScript SHA-3 hashing performance, time zones, and varying results on a few other tests up my sleeve. Changing one or two things won't work, thanks to the magic of XOR comparisons. Sad that all of this is anti-spambot measures or adaptations thereof that I used when I did Web development professionally. On the bright side, this might mean I can do away with the "Check here" box.

(I could also just use an evercookie exploit, but that's too unscrupulous for my tastes and requires the other person has either the Flash or Java plugin installed and globally enabled.)

@pyro: Added. Added. I honestly assumed it was already there. :| I've quickly come to realize that ASP.NET Web Forms' auto-generated click-and-drool code is not just a nightmare to read — it's just complete shit in general. The rewrite is not a Web Forms project, and all the HTML and code is going to be written from scratch. The state of this site right now makes me look bad, but I didn't do it!!

@The Watcher: Congrats on the iPad! I turned down the text-size-adjust CSS and added the viewport meta tag. See if that helps. I wanted to see how well things would scale when I changed all the fixed units to em's and %s in the CSS. It looked even worse on tablets and mobile gadgets before then.

12/27/2016 3:51:27 PM

Now pages load like this on an iPhone:

And when I do zoom in everything looks too big like it was on the iPad:

Not sure what to do about it (obviously), just thought I'd throw this out there.

12/27/2016 4:37:01 PM

@Watcher, dxdydz: Try reloading now. I removed some funky shit from the CSS file I didn't put there, like specifying the widths of the html and body tags.

Screenshots will be helpful.
