The Nazis in WW2 were very much anti-capitalist nature worshippers and it appears the same motivating factors are being used to drive todays green movement. The hysteria being created over global warming is just an example of how this movement isn't based on facts or reason, but superstition.

A Godwin, a non-sequitor, and 3 unsupported assertions in two sentances. unfortunately, that doesn't seem that uncommon for around here.
"The Nazis in WW2 were very much anti-capitalist"
WTF?
"nature worshippers"
WTF?
"and it appears the same motivating factors are being used to drive todays green movement."
Green Nazis? WTF?
"The hysteria being created over global warming is just an example of how this movement isn't based on facts or reason, but superstition."
WTF?
What? The Nazis killed lots of people and started a war because they wanted to take care of the planet? Or do people who want to take care of the planet actually want to kill everyone? Global warming is based on superstition because people are concerned about it? WTF?!
We already gave out a "WTF!!?" Award, but this post might still get the Alternate Bizarro Universe award.
You know, sometimes I can't tell if folks like Anduril just make this sh*t up or if they somewhere read something that made them somehow think that this is actually true.
Then I remember that a anyone who actually believes in "anti-capitalist nature worshipper Nazis" is so profoundly retarded that it would actually break several laws of physics to be able to tell the difference.
Well, okay, yes, the Nazis were into "nationalizing" businesses, but not to create a "worker's state." I guess that could be construed as anti-capitalist, but it's not Marxist because the ones at the top of society kept all that phat loot for themselves.
Germans as a rule in the early 20th century had an enthusiasm for the natural world. They liked to look at green trees and pretty flowers. So the Nazis, as a subset of all Germans, probably shared similar tastes. They did want to keep Germany in a kind of medieval pre-industrial site, but that meant exporting a lot of manufacturing to their conquered lands.
I don't think that today's green movement wants to create a Greater America, wipe out the "subhumans", and worship a cult-image of the Leader (need I mention the way the Nazis altered Christianity?).
There doesn't seem to be a hysteria over global warming; maybe it's because I don't watch Fox News, but I don't see Americans turning in their SUVs for hybrid cars or even Minis. I think that there is greater knowledge and concern in other countries, but we Americans don't give two shits for what they think as long as we get to have our playthings. [/snark]
As for the predicate of the second sentence, I've got plenty of world religions that meet that criteria (it also fits the Nazi movement to a T), but most advocates of global warming that I have seen are calm and rational while delivering their message. They also have an explanation for every argument they make, instead of resorting to "God wants it that way," which is (seriously) what I have gotten from some of my more devout friends.
Moonbiter:
I think that one can look at the idea of a meme such as this one and find that someone made it up (out of whole cloth or by twisting facts) somewhere along the line, then started spreading it. Those who pick it up and recite it are citing whomever they perceive as an authority, whether it be a book or a preacher.
There are plenty of people prepared to take their preacher's word for the state of the world rather than do their own thinking or go outside the group (of course, groupthink is another subject).
If you tell a lie that's big enough, it becomes the truth... for some people; q.v. Lincoln's famous "can't get fooled again*" saying.
*Thanks, Shrub!
The Nazis are every one you don't like. I get that they represent the greatest evil in the last hundred years but you would think that by this point it's no longer cool to compare people you don't like to Nazis.
Nazis and Hipsters are the same I tell you. As are Nazis and Furries. See it does not work.
Confused?
