I love how people keep pointing out Breivik or McVeigh and say that makes Christianity equivalent to Islam.

First of all, neither of the two were particularly devout Christians to begin with. McVeigh hated the US government and Breivik hated the left due to their support for Muslim immigration. Their statements on religion suggest they may have been some kind of an agnostic or wishy washy "cultural Christian". That's not to say agnosticism is to blame either since it doesn't have any tenets that might inspire or compel someone to commit these attacks.

Second, they're lone wolves. They don't command an organization and have no power to recruit people. To compare them with a global terror network that's DIRECTLY inspired by Islamic imperatives of global conquest is insane.

9/11 was the deadliest, most costly terror attack on US soil. All the terror attacks combined can't top this.

Since 9/11 we've also seen Fort Hood, Boston Marathon bombing, San Bernardino, all high casualty attacks, not to mention 60+ FOILED attacks, each with the potential of killing hundreds if successful.

If Christianity is just as dangerous, then we should have seen 70 times such attacks in the last 15 years, all of them done with the purpose of implementing a theocracy.

Give me a list of these 4000+ Christian attacks, successful or foiled. I'd be surprised if you can even fill the list with 40 attacks.

Is there anything at all that isn't? You can describe secular ideologies that way and even total lack of ideology. One can be easily manipulated if he doesn't stand for any principles at all.

The degree of danger matters. The appropriate response can be very different from case to case.

I'm more interested in whether or not the tenets are inherently promoting this kind of terrorism in some way.

I'm also interested in whether or not these ideas have any redeeming qualities. It's not really accurate to describe Christianity as a threat to the west, the west is built, in large measure, on Christian values. It's also built on humanist values, the west wouldn't be what it is without both elements. I'm not sure what Islam brings to the table considering no Islamic country ever became a democracy or a secular state on its own without some kind of western influence. Even Ataturk was influenced by the French. And even the Turkish experiment in secularism is far from perfect given that it's so easy to subvert over time. Ataturk isn't alive to keep them in check any longer and the army can be infiltrated.

Well there's the ongoing government sanctioned witch hunts and routine murder of homosexuals resulting in hundreds of deaths in the name of Christ annually in countries like Uganda.

But of course those don't count.

There's the LRA, NLFT, NSCN, and several Anti-Balaka militias responsible for numerous massacres and full blown pogroms against non-Christian groups.

But of course those don't count either.

There are white supremacists like the Ku Klux Klan and crackpot militias like Hutaree and vicious misogynists like Dean Saxton and mad bombers all claiming the bible as inspiration when they lynch people, shoot cops, organize gang rapes, and blow up clinics.

But of course none of those count either. Oh no. It's bad leadership, or fake Christians, or another issue that's more important than the religious focus, or isolated incidents with deranged individuals you can't link to a greater scheme.

But Islam? Everything to do with them is terrorism. Every act is connected. There are no "isolated" incidents. Every act in the name of Islam is in keeping with Islam and there are no "fake" believers. It doesn't have to be violence or even an identifiable action to count as terrorism if Islam is involved because then everything is some kind of "micro-aggression" that is part of some biggger bullshit because FUCKING REASONS that will never aply to anything a Christian does because now it no longer makes that perfect obvious sense anymore.

So there is always, always, always, always, always, always, ALWAYS a handy excuse that nobody else gets to use ever.

Because double standards are only for the people you want to use them.

You may have also noticed that Uganda is also kinda backwards in general. In any case that's Uganda's problem. There isn't a supremacist organization coming out of Uganda trying to overthrow the other countries of the world.

I'd have no problem with international sanctions and banning aid to these countries by the way. But please don't try to alarm people and imply this is somehow going to spread to the west and therefore we need to fear Christianity as much as Islam. When was the last time Ugandan Christians tried to travel to the US or to Europe in order to murder homosexuals or commit terrorist attacks due to tolerance of homosexuality?

The LRA is a personality cult for Joseph Kony, is limited to 1 or 2 countries, doesn't represent any mainstream understanding of Christianity, there's no such thing as a warfare doctrine to establish the 10 commandments. His ideas are so fringe he only has a few hundreds to a few thousand follower, most of which are child soldiers that his men kidnapped and tortured into submission. And given the manufacture of porn, I'm not even sure how sincere they really are about religion and how much this is more about nationalism. But since this is a local problem, why should the west be concerned about it? Is there any danger at all of this thing spreading out of India? No.

So a few localized threats with almost no recruitment options (by its nature a national socialist movement based on Naga nationalism is going to find no international appeal, even the name itself suggests that is not purely a religious movement, nationalism socialism by itself is a secular ideology, it doesn't require any religion or lack of religion) and which aren't based on any actual doctrine of warfare against non-believers (since Jesus didn't have such, he wasn't a military leader, he didn't establish a theocratic state and he certainly didn't give a damn about Naga or any other nationalism) amount to a global problem on par with ISIS or AQ? I don't think so.
