I do not have a son, but if I did and the Lord, Himself, asked me to kill him, I hope that my faith would be as strong as the faith Abraham had when the Lord God asked him to kill Isaac. That I would be willing to say "yes" knowing with calm assurance that the God of Grace would provide another sacrifice, just as he did for Abraham. You go ahead with your blasphemy and see where it gets you. I do not have to make the "case for Christ" for you, you can believe or not. If I am wrong, I have lost nothing. If you are wrong, you have lost your everlasting soul.

You know what's fucked up about that? Abraham and Isaac had no clue that god would provide another sacrifice. What happens when you hear the voice telling you to kill your child? Are you going to drive the knife in, all the time wondering when god is going to send a substitute?

Honestly, if you think your god is the sort of being that would ever ask someone to sacrifice a child, why the fuck would you worship him?

God told Abraham to sacrifice his son. Abraham was going to do so, until he noticed a nearby animal. He sacrificed the animal instead. Obviously, Abraham did not do what god ordered him to do.

Of course, there's the school of thought that points out that Genesis says Abraham and Isaac both went up the mountain, but it only ever mentions Abraham coming back down.

And The Bible is to be taken ALLEGORICALLY! It's a bunch of parable/mythology/legend/historical fiction! The MESSAGE is the point not the details of the story! SPIRIT OF THE LAW over THE LETTER OF THE LAW!

I also realized that any historicity is meaningless & unnecessary and have also taken a non-literal view of the horrible stuff in the Tanakh/Hebrew Testament.

For example: None of the genocides happened, archaeology has shown that....but one could take an "Esoteric/Metaphoric" approach and see the "Conquest of Canaan" as "The conquest of the Self and the destruction of excess ego, evil & ignorance within the self".

Exodus probably really involved a labor depute between the the Hebrews and their Egyptian EMPLOYERS....then the eruption of Thera/Santorini happened and caused a bunch of weird environmental stuff that made life lousy for a while. The Egyptians blamed the Hebrews & their Deity and the Hebrews got the heck out of there and crossed the REED Sea during low tide.

If there was anything historical, it was wildly exaggerated over time, same with the Nazarene Testament. But the point is....THE MESSAGE.

Demiurge is when you take it all literally, support the nasty parts taken literally, turn Deity into a monster and basically be a hateful, authoritarian, judgmental monster yourself, then impose that on others!

I don't hate BibleGod....I have the Demiurge version of BibleGod.

Maybe it wasn't a test of whether or not Abraham had the intestinal fortitude to murder his own son because God demanded it.

Maybe it was, instead, a test of whether or not the God that wanted Abraham's worship was, in fact, one worth worshiping--by showing the very human quality of mercy, instead of demanding human blood be spilled for his amusement.

If that's the case, then you, and everyone LIKE you, has managed to completely miss the fucking boat on that one, and you're hung up at the "BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GAWD" part.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter though, since it's a mythical story anyway. The real point here is that you're a gibbering moron. Look, it's been kind of a long week for me.

You've kinda missed the point of the story. Abraham didn't know that god would provide an alternate sacrifice, that's the whole point. That he was perfectly willing to give up his son when asked.

Except freedom, moral self-determination, sex outside marriage and sex in some ways within marriage, self-respect, certain forms of politics (in as much as being a fundie these days requires one to vote Republican). You've lost the most important thing you can lose: The right to live your life as you see fit, with no eternal punishment threat hanging over your head.

About being a ChristoPagan. I changed my mind. I'm best off as a NeoPagan.

You see, I was feeling weirdly "obligated" to be a ChristoPagan because I'm always using Bible scripture to respond to frummie nuts and talking about how Jesus was cool.

However, I don't feel quite right focusing on one Organized faith (Christianity) even if I see it as a 'Baha'i'-like approach.

I was overhearing mom watching the Pope's visit on TV and hearing all that beautiful music, hymns & stuff made me feel all "religiousy".

I'm a weird ADHD & OCD sufferer who's easily swayed to-and-fro. I also realize that religious symbols, style & iconography (in any faith)...the aesthetics...can have a weird, influencing effect on a mind. I'd imagine people look into different paths due to those aesthetics influencing the subconscious.

Perhaps I could think up my own strictly NeoPagan symbolism & iconography modeled after Catholic or Hindu stuff. Perhaps then, I'll quit changing my mind so much.

I'll re-cast myself as a what I've dubbed a "GreyWitch"....a NeoPagan who's both Left & Right-Hand Path....The Center Path!

I realized that I can still like Jesus and stand up for "Real Christianity" even if I'm no longer one.
All Gods are One God
All Goddesses are One Goddess
Together, They Are One.
I'll still have an "Interfaith" mindset. I'll be a universalist in my approach.

And so, I'll just be a NeoPagan.
