[Reviewing Doom III]

There hasn't been a game that I would more than happily throw away after I just purchased it for fifty-five dollars than this one. The graphics are superb and sound is just down right awesome, but nothing will make up for the complete satanic feel and exposure this game will bring. As a twenty-one year old I have to say I was freaked out, disturbed, and horrified by Doom III's content. I can?t imagine what a thirteen year old would feel like. After hours of exposure to this game, I could see a child's attitude and personality change because of this game. I would have displayed more images but due to the graphic and satanic nature of this game I just couldn?t show it. Stay far away from Doom III it has no value to it at all. I would highly recommend that anyone who professes themselves to be Christians, to NOT PLAY THIS GAME.

\"The graphics are superb and sound is just down right awesome,\"

So I've heard.

\"but nothing will make up for the complete satanic feel and exposure this game will bring.\"

Apparently you're completely unfamiliar with the storyline of the Doom series.

\"As a twenty-one year old I have to say I was freaked out, disturbed, and horrified by Doom III's content.\"

You still sleep with a nightlight and teddy bear, don't you?

\"After hours of exposure to this game, I could see a child's attitude and personality change because of this game.\"

Of course you offer no reasoning behind your statement.

\"I would have displayed more images but due to the graphic and satanic nature of this game I just couldn?t show it.\"

Wouldn't want to scare the other fundies with a mentality as low as yours.

You know, one might expect some content like that in a product called DOOM.

\"Stay far away from Doom III it has no value to it at all.\"

You just got through saying \"The graphics are superb and sound is just down right awesome\" \"No value at all\" means you are calling yourself a liar.

You must be a fairly weak-minded 21 year-old to be so disturbed and afraid of a game. Doom III might \"freak out\" some young children, but really, Danny, grow up.

I don't know why he keeps bringing up what a 13-year-old would think of the game...after all, it's rated M for a reason.

Wouldn't stop most 13-year-olds I know from getting their hands on a copy.

\"nothing will make up for the complete satanic feel and exposure this game will bring\"

That reminded me, personally, of the Chick tract where the Masonic \"Great Architect of the Universe\" is identified as the Templars' Baphomet, whom the Fundie Mouthpiece Du Jour describes as \"ugly, frightening and completely satanic!\"

Most gamers would appreciate the scary demonic atmosphere.

What is it with fundies labeling the Doom series as \"Satanic\" and \"A danger to Christian values\". Yes, there is a hell of a lot of demons and other lackeys of hell within the series, but the entire point of the game is that you're supposed to beat the ever-loving tar out of them!

When you get right down to it, Doom is pretty much a creative interpretation of what these fundies think they're doing; beating the crap out of Satan and his minions. The only major difference is that the Doom Guy has a shotgun.

In other words he sucks at gaming and wanted an excuse to not play Doom III anymore.

And as stated before, it is rated M, therefore 13 year olds are not allowed to buy it. And even if they got it, it is the responsibility of the parents/caretakers of the child to supervise the activities of the child.

All I can say is that I will keep my NES and SNES in perfect working order so that my future children will learn that it is fake from the best possible source, lousy graphics. You can't go and claim that the first Zelda on the NES made anyone kill another person.

Most of them fundies have shotguns, too.

an 'M' rating to a 13 year old is better than the world's greatest critcal acclaim. Given the title of the game, what was he expecting? Cute bunnies and duckies as the bad guys?

Doom 3 was merely ok. Satanic imagery or not, its way too damn dark to enjoy. :p

I thought the whole point of the game was to scare the crap out of you. And he paid $55? Rip off, you can get it for like $20 now.

Savrin: I know, seriously. Half-Life 2 is a better game with more mod potential, minus all the demons and satanic imagery.

Get rid of the first sentence and it's a positive review.

Doom, to me, is an unrealistically fast-paced one man slaughter-fest taking place in the midst of thousands of demons. But Doom III was a slower game with few enemies in play at any one time. Instead, it was horror movie with things pouncing at you from the darkness. Plus, defeating the final boss was trivial. It's like he was an afterthought. (And a poor one at that.)

In my opinion, Doom III wasn't really Doom at all. It was just a demo for an impressive game engine, which I think is a much better reason to avoid it than any satanic images.

[NotMe: \"You can't go and claim that the first Zelda on the NES made anyone kill another person.\"]

For the first game, sure. But the second almost made me kill the designer.

I have a friend who is a Doom 3 fundamentalist. For about a year before it was released, he kept sending me screenshots of it and always talked about it on the phone. He did the same thing afterwards for another year, and even paid in advance for an x-box version.

It must be really dull to be a fundy. You can't hardly play any games, you can't really watch much on TV, most of them want to burn books rather than read them... It just goes on.

I suppose teaching that demons can be defeated by gunplay rather than prayer is antichristian.

I agree. Doom is clearly satanic.*

*\"Satanic\" is defined as \"evil.\"**

**\"Evil is defined as \"Very wrong; criminal.\"***

***\"Very wrong\" and \"criminal\" are both defined as \"Not compatible with Mac OS 10.4.\"
