It's true, I don't really know why Bible God is an arsehole but I have faith that He is a jerk because of His mightiness and that I should know my place as a grateful crawling worm, full of sin, whatever that is, and humanity. I pray that He will grant me the beneficence of insanity that I may be confined to the rubber room, the better to contemplate His supreme dickheadedness.
No, LOGIC is strengthened when there is a feedback loop. Since god never gets in touch to tell people how they're doing, faith must starve itself on empty promises. All those faith tests, but the teacher never grades them, are just wasted time and energy.

I've had a fundie use it on me in real life. I just turned it around "What are you going to believe, your own eyes or a 6000 year old written down Sumerian creation myth.

Yeah, religion is based on faith, rather than objective assessment of evidence. We all know this. So what? It doesn't make much sense to me either, but is this person inciting hatred or violence? Not that I can see.
I am not myself religious, but I respect the individual's right to believe in whatever makes sense to them, whatever gives their life meaning (so long as that doesn't involve harming anyone). I wonder how many of you posting here would dare to tell a devout Muslim, to his face, that his faith is a load of bullshit. Not too many, I suspect.
I used to be a regular here at FSTDT. The reason I no longer frequent this site is because I see as much intolerance, bigotry and self-righteousness here as was ever spouted by any fundie.

I'm not an atheist, but I would only say that Christianity or Islam is bullshit to a Christian or Muslim's face if se is proselytising to me.
I'm perfectly fine with Christians who are willing to actually follow the teachings of Jesus re. tolerance and charity. I'm not a fan of those who believe things like "God hates fags." But I'm willing to let it slide as long as they don't bring out the hateful bullshit in my face. If one does so, I will go into refutation mode, perhaps throwing a "You ain't got no pancake mix!" in there.

There's a whole world of difference between believing without evidence based on conviction (which normal religious people do) and consciously denying logic and "rejecting reality and substituting their own" (which is what this person is doing).
Besides, it's not merely a matter of belief. Note how this person advocates blindly trusting in God even when his actions aren't logical or good? That perfectly sums up the slavish, amoral, close-minded philosophy of "might makes right" that is at the core of fundieism (and is especially evident in Anna's other quotes on this site).
The fact that she is clearly aware on some level of how ridiculous this is but insists on believing it and is apparently comfortable doing so (basically what George Orwell meant by double think) just makes it worse.

I'm in agreement with Goomy and Matthew. If they're going to insist upon denying scientific evidence and spouting ridiculous bullshit on the internet they deserve to be mocked.
People like Anna that embrace the concept of their god being an utter sociopath are a special breed of freak. Nothing, no matter how awful, causes them to question their faith. I saw it time and again when I was Christian and I can tell you from personal experience, those people can be pretty freaking scary.
Also a bummer. Ever have to be in the room with someone like this? The negativity that follows him or her is so dense it is actually palpable. A black cloud hovers over them constantly and envelops a room.
